A Different Perspective

The whole idea of UpL8 Feels Gr8 hinges on the idea that we’re always looking for I got this idea while down in the dumps, looking for any way out of the funk. It was difficult, sure, but it wasn’t as difficult as living life in the shadows of depression. I remember looking frantically for a spark, any sign of light that I could find that would signal to me that everything was probably going to be okay, and I found it.
I think the whole concept of perception is wild. The fact that you can see things differently just by standing in a different spot is crazy. Just holding your head in a different manner could trigger your senses to see a picture in a jumbled mess of colors and lines. I am reminded of this fact when I look at the ceiling. The popcorn textures don’t seem all that interesting, until the internet is out. You look long enough and you start to see shapes forming, faces emerging, and animals bounding across the metaphorical sky. The same thing goes for the textures on the walls. A simple coffee stain could be the solution to a bigger problem and you can’t exactly wrap your head around it. It just makes sense, and it’s weird.
The secret isn’t hidden in the walls though. Just as easily as you stumbled upon a unique experience, you look away even for a second and it’s gone. Sure, you may be lucky enough to find the same shape once or twice more. But move your head just a little, and it’s pretty much gone forever.
The thing is, we all see things from a different point of view. We’ve all been guilty of assuming one thing that turned out to be a totally different circumstance. We have all seen a situation change right before our eyes at one point or another, and if you haven’t, you’re amongst the inexperienced and that’s totally fine. Sometimes we are intimidated, or just otherwise incapable of putting ourselves amongst the experience. Whatever your circumstance is, however, I think everyone should seek out a way to perceive life in a way that is not considered normal for the individual self.
Climb a tree, run a race, take a moment, go ahead and jump. Take the dive, and drench yourself in the full experience as much as you are able to. Take the chance while you have a moment, let go of the mundane, and see things differently. Walk in someone else’s shoes, learn the struggle and find your way out of it. Get uncomfortable and find a new way to comfort. Then, you could experience appreciation in a way that you never felt before. Maybe you will even find that what you were doing was the right thing all along. Any way you slice that cake, you’ll never know what’s under the frosting until you take a piece.
My name is UpL8 and being UpL8 feels Gr8.
