Abandoned Houses

Have you ever looked at an abandoned house and caught yourself thinking that whatever led up to this point in the building's existence must have been terrible? Well, that’s what would normally run through my head, but recently I got to thinking: is it always a terrible situation that leads up to that point?
I started to think about all the possible scenarios and initially, the first thing I started to think about was this.
“How would it be if your house was to be abandoned “X” amount of years down the road? Is your life a tragic story that would lead to some sort of horrible assumption about your property?”
The answer? For me at least… no. My life isn’t horrible. I rather enjoy my life as it is. It is mine after all. But what would have to lead to my house being abandoned? There has to be some other explanation.
Maybe the area was bad. Typically if I were to see an abandoned house, it would be in a rougher part of town. Just thinking about an abandoned house in a good neighborhood doesn’t quite work out in my head, logically speaking.
Perhaps no one liked the house for some reason or another. Sometimes there are things about houses that aren’t particularly pleasing to just any potential homebuyer, and most commercially interested entities would likely hope to level such an undesirable building in order to make way for whatever profitable venture they intend to present to the public.
My point in saying all of this is, why do we always have to associate things so negatively? Sure, an abandoned house isn’t exactly the most pleasing thing to see. Yet, there it is. Still standing. Still a form of something that was most likely once called “home” by someone that had a heartbeat. We should be able to look at these kinds of things and look at that and say “It has potential.” “There’s still hope.”
So take that same train of thought and put it into more of your everyday life. “I may not be in the best position right now, but there’s always another opportunity around the corner.” “Some way, somehow, I am going to make this work.” Sometimes things don’t seem so hopeful, but you still have a means no matter what the circumstances may be. There is still a way, as long as you have the want, the desire, the will to make things move in whatever way you can get the wheels to turn. So take a breath, tell yourself that you are capable, and make that move.
I hope that this can help you look at the way things are going a little differently. My name is UpL8, and being UpL8 feels Gr8!
